Interview with a rugby player from Cabo Frio (Matheus Martins)

Sabrina: What is the name of your team? Are there other teams in town? How many in total?

Matheus: Currently I've been training in Cabo Frio Rocks, but I play for Armored Arraial . In town, that I know , there is only Rocks which is " professional" , but there are some beginners teams like Koalas Cabo Frio formed by IDE's Project guys.

Sabrina: How do you started? Found difficulties? Received some kind of incentive from the city?
Matheus: I started with a friend asking me to play a "peladinha" of football , there I met some other beginners teams guys and started training . We found some difficulties, as always, because for all sports in Brazil there is not incentive. I think the main problem is the prejudice, so many people look to rugby as a wild sport, but I see quite the opposite.

Sabrina: And in relation to the game in town, do you see some evolution? It has space in the city? How is the receptivity of the people?

Matheus: Yeah, the game is growing with passing years. Rumour has it that next year we'll play the Carioca Championship of sand. The space is the beach, because with the lack of incentive and allowance we have no income to play in the field, since the initial cost for each fielder is around 2000 dollars. The crowd is very receptive. At least in all teams that I played was very well accepted.

Sabrina: To finish, is there anything more that you would like to say?

Matheus: Feel all invited to practice this sport that is so exciting! Cabo Frio' crew trains on wednesdays at 20:00pm and Arraial's on sundays at 15:00pm.
